This course is designed to provide trainees with an overview of the tools and methods available to clinicians who are interested in research. It assumes a basic understanding of computers and IT and would be best suited for Foundation trainees and those at Senior House Officer Level. There will be a combination of lectures, small group work and hands on teaching that will provide trainees a complimentary learning experience.
Research is a poorly taught subject within medicine at present and whilst we will not be able to provide a comprehensive in-depth approach to every topic, we hope that each individual will come out with several new “tips and tricks of the trade”.

I would highly recommend this course for those preparing for the FRCS exam. It provides a perfect opportunity for intensive study and viva practise away from the usual working environment.Jane MacaskillAlpine FRCS 2011
