Alpine Course

*** Registration Closed ***

This course was conceived and founded as a service to those surgical trainees facing the difficult challenge of the FRCS(Gen Surg) examination.

It provides a winning balance between intensive learning, exhaustive viva practice and the joys of fresh mountain air.

Each day of the Alpine course commences with breakfast, followed by a four- hour subspecialty seminar delivered by experts in their field. This is followed by a three/four hour break (will vary), and is the only leisure time available before 11pm.

Previous delegates have placed a high value on the opportunities for distraction-free private study during the afternoon break, and others have decided to “clear the head” with a few hours outdoors before the rigours of the afternoon viva session and late evening tutorials.

Over the six days the group will face over 170 vivas, and receive around 36 hours of intensive exam-specific tuition. Even the clinical exams are simulated with clinical photographs and a wide span of radiological images.
There is also the unquestionable and unique benefit of a ‘captive faculty’, providing unparalleled opportunities for individual informal consultation and tuition.

Each and every viva is conducted and marked exactly as it would be in the examination and delivered by a hand-picked faculty, renowned for their educational and clinical credentials.

During the week, there is provision of individually tailored feedback and a ‘viva surgery’ to help you ascertain areas of weakness and improve. Where necessary, extra tuition can be arranged. We believe that this personalised service is unique for a course at this level, and have found that it gives each delegate the optimum chance to improve performance. This has been reflected in an exceptional pass rate amongst previous delegates.

The course fee is represents excellent value for money for a course at this level. We have negotiated a package with the travel operator ‘Neilson’ which includes your return flights, transfer to the hotel, 3 star accommodation and buffet breakfast and dinner (including wine and coffee). This is available through us as a group booking - includes flights out of Manchester or out of Gatwick.

The course/travel package fee is non refundable, as all the above travel/accommodation/faculty requirements will be made as a firm arrangement to secure your place. Your place is only secure upon receipt of the full fee. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Unlike other courses we do not select our delegates.

We look forward to welcoming you on our course.
